Job Summary

Henry Ford Health is seeking a skilled Diagnostic Sonographer to join our team. As a Diagnostic Sonographer, you will be responsible for performing diagnostic sonographic procedures at a technical level, not requiring constant supervision of technical detail. You will work under the direction of a Radiologist to gather and exchange patient information with nursing personnel and physicians. Your primary goal will be to provide high-quality patient care and maintain a positive and professional atmosphere for patients.

Responsibilities
  • Perform diagnostic sonographic procedures at a technical level, not requiring constant supervision of technical detail.
  • Work under the direction of a Radiologist to gather and exchange patient information with nursing personnel and physicians.
  • Provide high-quality patient care and maintain a positive and professional atmosphere for patients.
  • Review patient chart, physicians' order/diagnosis, and the results of previous diagnostic studies as appropriate and records patient's personal and medical information on history sheets.
  • Select appropriate equipment and proper technical factors on an individual patient basis according to specific orders and part of body to be examined.
  • Assist patient in assuming physical position for required examination. Provide immobilization as required and protection in accordance with prescribed safety standards.
  • Explain test procedure to patient to elicit cooperation and allay apprehensions.
  • Record images using proper identification information and sends results of sonography to physician for interpretation.
  • May discuss test results with physician or request physician to personally view screen image.
  • Assist physicians in performance of other related examinations such as amniocentesis, cyst puncture, thoracentesis, etc.
  • Assist in performing first aid as necessary.
Requirements
  • Become and maintain RDMS registered at time of hire/transfer date required.
  • High School Graduate required.
  • At least one (1) year of full time experience in clinical diagnostic ultrasound preferred, satisfactory completion of a formal training program in diagnostic ultrasound.
  • Excellent knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and pathology and a high degree of technical expertise.
  • ARDMS or RDMS Certified Experience with Siemens Equipment Experience with Paracentesis and Thoracentesis procedures
