Job Summary:

The Sterile Processing Manager coordinates and manages the services, procedures, and activities in the sterile processing department. This role is accountable for oversight of the administrative, fiscal, and daily operations to ensure all clinical and technical activities meet regulatory compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Management: Effectively manages team members in a manner consistent with ThedaCare policies and values. Ensures the recruitment and retention of competent team members to meet the needs of the business operations of the department.
  • Quality Outcomes: Is accountable for daily activities and work processes that result in quality outcomes.
  • Payroll and Attendance: Oversees and ensures accuracy of time and attendance and payroll practices.
  • Instrument Maintenance: Ensures optimal sterile processing performance through quality controls established within the department and set forth by national accrediting bodies.
  • Decontamination and Sterilization: Oversees and ensures the decontamination, reassembly, and sterilization of instruments and instrument trays to meet regulatory standards.
  • Collaboration and Training: In collaboration with the infection prevention department, ensures training, auditing, and compliance with the high-level disinfection practices as established by The Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI).
  • Inventory Management: Works closely with the materials and supply chain department for inventory management.
  • Offsite Clinic Support: Works collaboratively with offsite clinics to ensure proper handling, decontamination, reprocessing, and distribution of instruments and equipment.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related field.
  • Experience: Five years of progressive responsibility in a healthcare setting, with three years of leadership experience, including leading teams and/or projects.
  • Certification: Central Sterile Processing certification (CBSPD or IAHCSMM) must be achieved within one year of hire.

Physical Demands:

  • Mobility: Ability to move freely (standing, stooping, walking, bending, pushing, and pulling) and lift up to a maximum of twenty-five (25) pounds without assistance.

Work Environment:

  • Climate: Climate-controlled department setting with daily movement throughout the facility.
  • Interaction: Interaction with department members and other healthcare providers.
