Job Overview

This is a skilled position overseeing the production, scheduling, and maintenance of the hot plant. The plant foreperson is responsible for ensuring the safety of the hot plant crew and the efficient working condition of plant equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plant foreperson works closely with plant operators and is able to perform various functions, including plant operations, scheduling, and maintenance.
  • Reads work schedules and determines the sequence of operations.
  • Communicates effectively with customers and crews.
  • Operates the plant according to the production schedule using appropriate materials.
  • Monitors material operations to ensure the quality of the mix.
  • Performs maintenance and service on the plant as required.
  • Ability to weld using an arc welder or cutting torch is preferred.
  • Cleans the control house and yard facility daily.
  • Oversees truck scales and the loading of trucks.
  • Enters production information into computer systems.
  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
  • May be subject to drug testing, medical exams, and physical agility testing.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
  • One to two years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Work Requirements
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write correspondence and memos.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to work well with others in a group or one-on-one setting.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of inventory and order processing systems; uses job-specific computer systems for ticketing and two-way radio for communications.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
