  • Record phone interactions and follow up on resolution items in a timely manner.
  • Communicate hospital policies to patients and their representatives.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA, payer, and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform pre-certification notifications and gather required documentation for insurance carriers.
  • Enter patient procedure insurance and benefits eligibility information into patient management and accounting systems.
  • Verify patient coverage for procedures and ensure compliance with Access Services Policy.
  • Act as a liaison between patients, physicians, and insurance carriers to pre-certify procedures.
  • Notify patients, physicians, and departments regarding potential non-covered procedures and coordinate payment plan arrangements.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma required; associate's degree or active pursuit of a degree preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of customer service experience using computers required.
  • Minimum 2 years of previous healthcare or related experience, including familiarity with payer requirements, regulatory compliance, HIPAA, and medical terminology.
