Position: EHS Coordinator
Shift: Day
Salary: $95K - $105K DOE
Location: Ottawa, IL
Key Responsibilities:
Safety Management:
Prioritize safe work practices and adhere to all applicable federal and state safety regulations as well as corporate safety policies.
Identify and report unsafe conditions and assist in their rectification. Ensure proper use of equipment and materials.
Accompany regulatory inspectors during site evaluations and maintain required certifications.
Conduct training for new miners, ensuring compliance with MSHA requirements.
Organize and oversee annual refresher training sessions for existing staff.
Lead behavior-based safety initiatives and manage safety observation programs.
Perform thorough safety inspections at all operational sites.
Maintain compliance documentation in accordance with company policy and regulatory requirements.
Conduct random inspections to identify and mitigate hazards affecting operational safety.
Manage the random drug testing program and process accident reports, ensuring proper documentation for workers' compensation claims.
Environmental Oversight:
Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and organizational procedures to mitigate hazardous waste exposure.
Maintain air quality management systems and assist in the submission of air permit modifications.
Document and report any unplanned emissions and accompany environmental inspectors during site assessments.
Ensure proper management of hazardous waste, including training for all personnel involved in waste generation.
Monitor compliance with spill prevention plans and maintain radioactive scale compliance.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; a college degree in Environmental Health or Safety is preferred.
A minimum of five years of relevant experience in safety management or regulatory reporting is required.
Certifications in Method 9 emissions, CPR/First-Aid, and hazardous waste management are essential.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and ERP applications.
