Position Overview: Clinical Sleep Specialist at Excela Health

The Clinical Sleep Specialist is responsible for conducting comprehensive sleep evaluations, providing patient education, and overseeing clinical procedures during sleep studies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administers direct and indirect patient care in accordance with established hospital protocols.
  • Assists patients with their daily living needs.
  • Collects, records, and analyzes patient care information.
  • Engages with patients, observes behaviors, and documents findings.
  • Participates in care initiatives aimed at enhancing patient outcomes.
  • Exhibits leadership qualities and effective problem-solving abilities.
  • Acts as an advocate for patient rights and needs.
  • Ensures adherence to regulatory standards and guidelines.
  • Contributes to departmental performance improvement efforts.
Specialized Duties
  • Collects and evaluates patient data to determine specific testing requirements.
  • Prepares patients and necessary equipment for sleep studies.
  • Conducts various polysomnographic assessments following industry best practices.
  • Accurately scores sleep/wake cycles and prepares detailed reports.
  • Maintains departmental standards, including infection control measures.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Prior experience as a polysomnographer is essential.
  • Proficient in PC and software applications (Microsoft Office).
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills are necessary.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate's Degree in a relevant field is preferred.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Licensed Polysomnographic Technologist is required.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is necessary.
  • Compliance with various clearances as mandated.
Supervisory Role
  • No direct supervisory responsibilities, but serves as a mentor and coach.
