At Abbott Laboratories, we are seeking a highly skilled Patent Administrator to join our team. As a Patent Administrator, you will play a critical role in supporting our General Counsel division in the management of patents and intellectual property.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with legal services for assigned responsibilities or clients.
  • Support the business in achieving business objectives.
  • Assist more experienced paralegals and/or attorneys in resolving legal issues on projects involving single disciplines/functional areas within the Legal Division and/or a division within Abbott.
  • Generate and edit legal and patent documents at the direction of paralegals and attorneys.
  • Represent Abbott externally to customers, suppliers, competitors, opposing counsel, or government agencies with direction and guiding process.

Requirements:

  • Associate's degree and/or relevant legal education required.
  • 2-4 years of relevant administrative experience.
  • Strong communication and writing skills.
  • Excellent computer skills, including experience with document creation and presentation software (Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Excel, and Adobe Acrobat).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Legal and/or patent experience preferred.
  • Prefer experience with patent management software and use of USPTO websites.
