Position Overview:
The Nurse Midwife is responsible for delivering standard maternity care and guidance to expectant mothers. This includes managing the entire maternity cycle, from pregnancy and labor to postpartum care and newborn assistance. The role encompasses medical oversight throughout the antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and gynecological stages, ensuring that patients receive appropriate diagnoses, treatments, education, and follow-up care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive maternity care, including pain management and comfort measures during labor.
- Administer care for both vaginal and cesarean deliveries, offering alternative birthing options.
- Deliver patient education and counseling regarding pregnancy and postpartum care.
- Adhere to established protocols and policies as mandated by the State of California Nurse Practice Act.
Qualifications:
Education:
Graduation from an accredited nursing program with a Master's degree in nursing.
Licensure & Certification:
Current RN license in California, Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) certification, and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification are required.
Experience:
A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in maternity care is preferred.
Skills and Knowledge:
Proficient in the medical management of pregnant patients, with a solid understanding of community resources and referral processes. Capable of evaluating basic sonogram results and knowledgeable about intervention techniques for high-risk prenatal situations. Strong analytical and project management skills are essential, along with effective communication abilities to convey medical information clearly to diverse audiences.

Work Schedule:
This position is full-time, with a typical schedule of Monday through Friday, requiring 40 hours per week.
