Job Summary:

As a Mammography Technologist at Kaiser Permanente, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality diagnostic imaging services to our patients. Under the supervision of a physician, you will perform mammography examinations, maintain quality control of all mammographic studies, and ensure accurate and timely documentation of patient information.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct mammography examinations, positioning patients, applying compression, and providing immobilization means as needed.
  • Review orders with peers and consult with attending radiologists as necessary to ensure accurate and high-quality imaging.
  • Maintain daily records of exams performed, including patient information and imaging results.
  • Assist radiologists during exams and procedures as needed, capturing specific mammography images and assisting with biopsy specimen collection.
  • Operate and understand all features and performance capabilities of mammography systems, performing system quality control as required.
  • Post-process and perform quality control of mammography images as required, preparing images for radiologist interpretation and transmission to the Diagnostic Imaging PACS system.
  • Maintain working knowledge of all department equipment and devices, reporting equipment malfunctions as necessary.
  • Provide fear/stress-reducing service-oriented communication with patients, explaining procedures, answering questions, and providing encouragement.
  • Ensure appropriate safety precautions are followed, applying measures to minimize radiation exposure and capturing and recording radiation dose delivered during procedures.
  • Function as part of the resuscitation team during Code Blue and/or Rapid Response Team situations.
  • Maintain all materials needed and linen supply on a daily basis, maintaining general order and cleanliness of the assigned room.
  • Pursue ongoing continuing education to stay current with industry developments and best practices.
Requirements:
  • Minimum one (1) year general radiology experience as a registered technologist, including experience or successful completion of a training program in mammography, if applicable.
  • Minimum one (1) year mammography experience.
  • Associates degree in radiologic technology or two (2) years of directly related experience.
  • Radiographer License (Hawaii).
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certificate - Mammography Technologist.
  • Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association.
