About the Position

Astec Industries is seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for designing and developing control systems for our heavy construction equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop electrical control systems for heavy construction equipment, including rock crushers, screens, and conveying equipment.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to create product requirements and decompose them into electrical hardware and software requirements.
  • Develop and execute bench tests with the Controls Software Engineer to ensure proper functionality before integration into the complete equipment design.
  • Use computer-aided engineering design software to develop electrical/electronic design drawings and schematics.
  • Develop PCB layout designs for panels and create 3D routed wiring harnesses for all wires required for a system design.
  • Lead cross-functional electrical design reviews, including Design for Manufacturability.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science (4-year) degree in Electrical/Electronic/Computer Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in the design and development of industrial or mobile equipment controls.
  • Knowledgeable of structured system design techniques.
  • Proficient with computer-aided design software.
  • Ability to think creatively and propose innovative solutions to engineering challenges.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficiency with Solidworks, Solidworks Electrical, and Solidworks 3D Routing.
  • Experience with CodeSys, C++, Telematics, hydraulic circuits, 12V/24V DC electric circuits, and/or control systems for off-road construction equipment or heavy industrial equipment.
