Position Overview:

Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse or licensed Nurse, the individual in this role will provide assistance with routine and repetitive patient care tasks within a healthcare setting. This position also encompasses specific clerical, organizational, and patient-centered activities that are primarily supportive in nature.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fulfill the expectations of the OneCHRISTUS Competencies, which include being a Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
  • Assist with the admission, transfer, and discharge processes for patients.
  • Complete necessary documentation accurately.
  • Prepare patient rooms for new admissions by setting up IV pots and adjusting beds to the appropriate height.
  • Ensure that all patient belongings are transported with them during transfers or discharges.
  • Safely transport stable patients as required.
  • Maintain confidentiality and security while interacting with patients, families, and visitors.
  • Procure, clean, and return equipment and supplies as needed.
  • Run errands for the nursing unit as necessary.
  • Assist licensed personnel in maintaining a safe and comfortable environment for patients, including replenishing water, linens, and towels.
  • Perform unit-specific patient care tasks as outlined in the skills checklist and document on the flowsheet.
  • Identify and report any significant changes in a patient's condition to the nurse in charge promptly.
  • Assist with the ordering and maintenance of stock items according to established inventory protocols.
  • Keep unit supplies organized and orderly.
  • Respond appropriately to emergency situations.
  • Communicate effectively with team members during and between shifts.
  • Respond to phone calls and patient call lights in a timely manner.
  • Adapt patient assessment and care methods to meet the unique needs of each patient.
  • Demonstrate competence in performing assigned patient care responsibilities, addressing the developmental needs of patients served by the department.

Qualifications:

A. Education/Skills: High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

B. Experience: Previous patient care experience in an acute care environment is preferred.

C. Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications: A valid CNA License in the state of employment is required, along with BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).

Work Schedule: 7AM - 7PM

Work Type: Per Diem As Needed
