Surgical Technologist

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Surgical Technologist to join our team at North Mississippi Health Services. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our operating rooms and providing exceptional patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Procedure Preparation:
- Utilize procedure preference lists to ensure accurate preparation of surgical procedures.
- Select and arrange supplies, instruments, and equipment for surgical procedures.
- Maintain a sterile set for operation(s).
- Surgeon Assistant:
- Assist surgeon(s) by performing supervised duties.
- Primary scrub person, responsible for passing instruments, sponges, sutures, catheters, drains, and dressings.
- Perform sponge, needle, and instrument counts as specified by policy/procedure.
- Assume care of specimen until turned over to Registered Nurse.
- Patient Advocate:
- Protect patients from potential injury and contamination of the sterile field.
- Communication/Record-Keeping:
- Restock supplies.
- Straighten the operating room for next use.
- Must be able to take primary call duties for their specialty (as assigned).
- Education:
- Attend required in-services, annual review, and educational programs.
- Regulatory:
- Knowledge and practice of standards of care, policies/procedures established by North Mississippi Medical Center.
- High School graduate or equivalent required.
- Graduate of an accredited school of Surgical Technology or on-the-job training with two years scrub experience in an OR setting.
- Surgical Technologist certification preferred.
- American Heart Association (AHA) CPR certification at HCP Level required.
- Three to six months of orientation/training depending on experience.
- Good written and verbal communication required.
- Interaction with a patient population of all ages ranging from neonates to geriatrics, required.
