Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush is a leading provider of comprehensive orthopedic services, recognized nationally for its expertise. Our Orthopedic Program at Rush University Medical Center is ranked top 10 in Orthopedics by U.S. News and World Report.

We are seeking a skilled Diagnostic Imaging Specialist to join our team at our clinic in Munster, IN. This part-time position requires working 3 days a week, with days to be determined on a weekly basis.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare patients for radiologic procedures and take x-rays following established procedures for patient care and safety.
  • Maintain working knowledge of PACS, DR, and CR Radiologic equipment.
  • Train with new procedures and technologies as they are added to the Radiology workflow.
  • Use C-Arm where appropriate.
  • Prepare medications and assist physicians with Fluoroscopic procedures.
  • Maintain procedure rooms and stock necessary medical and fluoroscopy supplies.
  • Prepare and position patients for diagnostic imaging procedures.
  • Adjust immobilization devices to obtain optimum views of specified areas of the body requested by physicians.
  • Hold patients for certain exams where immobilization devices cannot be used.
  • Explain procedures to patients to reduce anxieties and obtain patient cooperation.
  • Moves imaging equipment into specified positions, determines exposure factors, and adjusts equipment controls to set exposure factors and produce images of proper detail, density, and accuracy.
  • Practices radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation to patients and staff.
  • Performs specialized and routine diagnostic radiology procedures.
  • Assists physicians in fluoroscopic and special x-ray examinations.
  • Measures and prepares medication and contrast media.
  • Processes images and reviews for proper identification and quality control.
  • Prepares images for reading by requesting physicians.
  • Notifies the Radiology Manager regarding malfunctions and repairs as needed.
  • Properly uses EHR to enter CPT codes for billing purposes.
  • Properly uses EHR and PACS for Radiology and charting purposes.
  • Travels to all sites as required for coverage.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited X-Ray Technologist Program.
  • Certified Registered Technician of Radiography (RT-R).
  • IEMA and ARRT Certification.
  • IDNS Certified upon request from the Director of Radiology.
