SAIC Systems Engineer Senior Job Description

SAIC is seeking a senior-level Systems Engineer to support the GEARS contract at NASA Glenn Research Center in Cleveland, Ohio.


Background

NASA GRC is developing a large cryo-fluid demonstration spacecraft. The team is led by a civil servant project manager and has a combined CS and contractor team.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

As Bus Lead, you will coordinate the efforts of the Structures, Mechanical, Thermal, Power, and Avionics discipline engineering efforts using the off-the-shelf (OTS) spacecraft bus selected for use in this demonstration.


Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and five (5) years or more experience; Master's degree and three (3) years or more experience; PhD and 0 years related experience.
  • Familiarity and experience with NASA or DOD systems engineering process and procedures.
  • Able to lead a team of SMEs in developing NASA Mission Concept Review (MCR) artifacts supporting Stakeholder Identification, Stakeholder Expectation definition, Project Concept Definition, and Measures of Effectiveness (MOE) of concept vehicle.
  • Must be a team player. Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.

Other Position Requirements
  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency.
  • Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain a Public Trust Clearance.

Location and Duration

Local hybrid (3 day in the office, 2 telework) is preferred. Full Remote might be possible. Work has a hard end date of 3/31/25. There is no guarantee of continuance, but this is also a good foot-in-the-door introduction to the GRC customer.
