Position Summary:

The Department of Orthopaedics at the University of Utah School of Medicine is seeking a qualified candidate for a tenure track faculty position as a fellowship-trained Orthopaedic Pediatric Sports Medicine Surgeon. The academic rank will be determined based on the qualifications of the selected individual.


Role Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will engage in a dynamic pediatric and sports medicine service dedicated to the care of young athletes within a prestigious academic Orthopaedic Department. Responsibilities will include:

  • Participating in team coverage as a vital aspect of the role.
  • Contributing to the development of a comprehensive sports medicine program serving the Intermountain West region.

Qualifications:

Minimum requirements include:

  • Completion of an Orthopaedic Surgery residency.
  • One year of advanced fellowship training in operative sports medicine.
  • Board certification or board eligibility.

Additional fellowship training in pediatric orthopaedics is advantageous, although the primary focus will be on sports medicine.


Research and Mentorship:

Applicants should demonstrate a strong interest in clinical outcomes research and/or basic science research in Pediatric Sports Medicine. A commitment to mentoring others in clinical, research, and educational programs related to musculoskeletal disorders is essential, including:

  • Publishing in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Presenting at national conferences.

Overall, candidates should exhibit a profound academic interest and a proven track record of excellence across all facets of orthopaedics, including:

  • Clinical care.
  • Education.
  • Clinical or basic science research.
