Position Summary

V2X is seeking a qualified RF Engineer to support operations at the Naval Air Station (NAS) Patuxent River. This role involves assisting acquisition programs in navigating the equipment spectrum certification process, which is essential for the lawful operation of spectrum-dependent systems.

The responsibilities include generating Spectrum Supportability Risk Assessments (SSRA), crafting equipment spectrum certification packages utilizing NTIA software tools such as EL-CID online, collaborating with the Navy Marine Corps Spectrum Center (NMSC), and facilitating the spectrum assignment process for both US and Host Nation Coordination (HNC).


Key Responsibilities

Primary Duties:

  • Conduct and document Spectrum Supportability Risk Assessments (SSRA) for various stages of DoD acquisition programs.
  • Utilize multiple spectrum and frequency allocation databases to gather information on relevant systems and apply findings to different platforms.
  • Analyze and assess the characteristics and performance criteria of spectrum-dependent systems and equipment.
  • Evaluate the intended application of equipment to ensure compliance with applicable spectrum standards as outlined in the NTIA Manual. Prepare spectrum certification requests for submission to NMSC and NTIA.
Qualifications
  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related STEM field.
  • Security Clearance:
    • Must possess an active US DoD SECRET Security Clearance.
  • Experience:
    • Demonstrated experience in RF engineering related to DoD spectrum-dependent systems or in Navy/Joint Operational Spectrum Management.
    • Familiarity with EMI, EMC criteria, and engineering standards for operational spectrum coordination.
    • Hands-on experience with communications, combat systems, electronic warfare systems, and navigation aids, with a focus on RF compatibility and frequency planning.
    • Proficient in conducting spectrum EMI/EMC evaluations and engineering analyses to identify and resolve spectrum-related issues.
    • Experience in developing and maintaining spectrum documentation, operational publications, and briefings related to spectrum usage.
  • Specific Experience:
    • Minimum of 3 years in areas such as:
      • Testing and evaluating Spectrum Dependent Systems.
      • RF System Capabilities Analysis.
      • Systems Integration.
      • Spectrum Policy.
      • General RF and electronic technology.
      • EMI, EMC, RF Engineering, or Spectrum Management.
  • Desired Experience:
    • Experience in developing spectrum certification in accordance with the NTIA Manual, particularly for airborne platforms including radars and communication systems.
    • Knowledge of systems operating within the MHz frequency band, including IFF interrogators and transponders.
  • Skills:
    • Expertise in Equipment Spectrum Certification and National Spectrum Policies.
    • Proficient in RF analysis and report generation, with a solid understanding of DoD spectrum systems and compliance evaluation.
    • Familiarity with EL-CID, EL-CID Online, HNSWDO, GEMSIS, and Spectrum SXXI.
