Magnet Medical is a leading provider of healthcare services, seeking an experienced Radiation Therapist for a travel position in New Mexico.

About the Job

This 13-week opportunity will allow you to work closely with our multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality patient care. As a Radiation Therapist, you will play a critical role in the treatment of cancer and other conditions requiring radiation therapy.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Treatment Delivery
    • Administer prescribed radiation treatments to patients, following treatment plans created by oncologists and medical physicists.
    • Use specialized equipment, such as linear accelerators, to target tumors with precise doses of radiation.
    • Position patients on the treatment table and ensure proper alignment using imaging techniques.
    • Monitor patient responses during treatment and adjust positioning as needed.
    • Deliver treatments that minimize exposure to healthy tissue and surrounding areas.
  • Patient Preparation and Care
    • Explain radiation therapy procedures to patients, addressing any concerns they may have.
    • Ensure patients are positioned comfortably and safely for treatment.
    • Provide emotional support and reassurance to patients, especially during radiation therapy.
    • Educate patients about potential side effects and provide guidance on managing these symptoms.
  • Treatment Planning
    • Collaborate with oncologists and medical physicists to review and implement treatment plans.
    • Assist in designing and planning patient-specific treatment techniques.
    • Work with a multidisciplinary team to review imaging data and ensure treatment areas are accurately mapped.
    • Make adjustments to treatment plans as needed.
  • Equipment Maintenance and Safety Protocols
    • Operate and maintain radiation therapy equipment, including linear accelerators and imaging devices.
    • Conduct daily equipment checks to ensure proper function and calibration.
    • Report equipment malfunctions and follow up to ensure timely resolution.
    • Adhere to safety protocols to prevent radiation exposure to staff, patients, and others.
  • Patient Monitoring and Follow-up
    • Monitor patients throughout the treatment process, observing for any signs of complications or reactions.
    • Take accurate measurements of patient responses and progress.
    • Record treatment data, including radiation doses and machine settings.
    • Provide follow-up instructions to patients, including guidelines for managing side effects.
    Benefits and Requirements

We offer a competitive salary package of $120-$150 per hour (dependent on experience), based on 40 hours per week and 8-hour shifts, tax-free stipend amount to be determined, and opportunities for professional growth and development.

To be considered for this role, you should have a degree in radiation therapy or a related field, current certification as a Radiation Therapist, and relevant experience working with radiation therapy equipment and software.
