About the Position

This Child and Adolescent Wellness Professional position at Lexington School for the Deaf requires a highly skilled and compassionate School Counselor/Social Worker to provide critical support to students and their families. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of child and adolescent development, with a strong ability to work collaboratively with students, families, and colleagues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement trauma-informed care programs, incorporating evidence-based practices and tailoring services to meet individual student needs.
  • Conduct regular assessments and evaluations, monitoring student progress and making adjustments as necessary.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and providing data-driven insights for program evaluation.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other school staff to develop and implement academic and behavioral interventions, promoting student success and reducing barriers to learning.
  • Write detailed mental health evaluations and social histories, providing comprehensive assessments and recommendations for student support.
  • Evaluate psychiatric emergencies, including suicide evaluations, ensuring timely and effective interventions.
  • Participate in team meetings and in-service trainings, staying updated on best practices and sharing expertise.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Masters Degree in Social Work or Counseling, with relevant state or nationally recognized professional certification/licensure.
  • Proven experience in counseling and working with diverse populations, particularly in deaf and hard of hearing communities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to establish rapport with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Strong time management, planning, and organizational skills, with ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities.
Estimated Salary and Benefits

The estimated salary for this position is $70,000 - $90,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. A comprehensive benefits package is also available, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
