Clinical Support Specialist

Position Summary
This position is responsible for providing exceptional customer service while performing a variety of administrative duties related to updating and organizing information on the nursing units. Coordinates work within the unit as well as with other departments while keeping the department leader informed. Responds to inquiries and requests from staff personnel and provides administrative support as needed to support department goals. Works as a CNA as necessary.
Key Responsibilities
- Customer Service: Serves as first contact for patients, families, and visitors; greets all visitors and answers telephone in a courteous and professional manner; takes accurate messages and directs calls to appropriate staff members in a timely manner; exercises independent judgment when handling routine matters or making appropriate referrals.
- Communication: Answers patient call system and communicates patient needs to appropriate nursing staff; consults with other departments as part of the interdisciplinary team. Assists NA staff as needed.
- Documentation: Ensures documentation is complete, accurate, and timely; prepares the patient record in both electronic and chart form for new admissions, transfers, and discharges patients.
- Supply Management: Orders, stocks, and maintains an appropriate level of supplies, including routine supplies and equipment, as well as special purchase requests.
- Patient Safety: Performs all aspects of the position in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical healthcare errors; utilizes established hand-off communication protocols.
- Performance Improvement: Participates in performance improvement activities.
- Additional Duties: Performs other duties as assigned.
Certification/Licensure Requirements
- Current IL C.N.A. Certification Required
- BLS Required
Experience Requirements
- Office/Clerical setting minimum 2 years Preferred
Computer Skills
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and Outlook

- Ability to work independently, prioritize, and complete tasks in a timely manner
- Excellent ability to thrive under pressure and adapt to changes in assignment
