Position Overview

The Mortgage Lending Specialist is responsible for originating first mortgage and second lien equity loans while promoting the financial institution's lending services within the real estate sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Adhere to the workflow processes and protocols for Mortgage Lending.
  2. Achieve strategic objectives through effective loan origination.
  3. Generate first mortgage and second lien equity loans to fulfill annual lending targets.
  4. Document client interactions in the designated system and provide monthly reports to management.
  5. Enhance customer relationships by maintaining comprehensive knowledge of the bank's offerings.
  6. Collaborate with the lending team to elevate customer satisfaction.
  7. Stay informed about investor loan programs and their requirements.
  8. Engage in business development activities, including sales outreach and community events.
  9. Contribute to the formulation of branch goals and financial plans.
  10. Present updates during monthly internal branch meetings.
  11. Foster personal connections by addressing customers by name.
  12. Cross-sell bank products to assist customers in achieving their financial objectives.
  13. Provide product and service guidance, seeking alternatives when necessary.
  14. Respond to customer inquiries promptly, prioritizing urgent requests.
  15. Achieve a deposit conversion rate of 100% for each loan relationship.
  16. Participate in assigned committees to support branch initiatives.
  17. Assist in the collection of overdue mortgage and consumer loans.
  18. Attend all required training sessions and meetings related to retail lending.
  19. Compliance:
  20. Complete loan applications and pre-processing tasks efficiently to meet regulatory requirements.
  21. Evaluate loan applicants in accordance with the bank's lending policies.
  22. Ensure residential loan files are accurate and compliant with established procedures.
  23. Maintain knowledge of and adhere to all relevant federal regulations and bank policies.
  24. Community Engagement:
  25. Represent the bank at community events to build relationships with realtors and builders.
  26. Actively participate in special credit and community reinvestment programs.
  27. Organize and engage in educational opportunities to address community financial needs.
  28. Additional Duties:
  29. Answer phone calls as required.
  30. Perform other responsibilities as assigned by management.
Qualifications:

  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English is essential.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A bachelor's degree in business or finance is preferred but not mandatory.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in banking, mortgage lending, or finance is required.
  • Successful completion of internal training programs is necessary.
  • Must maintain Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry (NMLS) credentials.
  • Knowledge of secondary market and government programs is advantageous.
  • Thorough understanding of new account operations is expected.
  • Solid knowledge of consumer lending practices is essential.
  • Basic math and problem-solving abilities are required.
  • Good understanding of financial products and services is necessary.
  • Exceptional customer service and professional skills are crucial.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and telephone skills are needed.
  • Ability to multitask, work independently, delegate, and make informed decisions.
  • Average computer and keyboard skills are necessary.
  • Must be a team player.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
