Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Correctional Officer Sergeant to join our team at the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. As a Correctional Officer Sergeant, you will be responsible for supervising and coordinating the activities of correctional officers, ensuring the safety and security of inmates and staff, and maintaining a high level of professionalism and integrity.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of correctional officers
  • Ensure the safety and security of inmates and staff
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism and integrity
  • Enforce rules and regulations of the correctional facility
  • Investigate and report incidents and misconduct
  • Develop and implement training programs for correctional officers
  • Collaborate with other departments and agencies to ensure effective operations
Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited senior high school or equivalent or GED
  • Two years full-time, wage-earning correctional custody or law enforcement experience
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and make sound decisions quickly
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
