Wellstar is seeking an Advanced Practice Nurse or Physician Assistant to enhance our dynamic and expanding Neurosurgical team. This role will concentrate on Endovascular Neurosurgery, combining both outpatient clinic responsibilities and inpatient care. The work schedule is structured from Monday to Friday, including occasional weekend duties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in surgical procedures as the first assistant approximately two days per week.
  • Gather patient histories, perform comprehensive physical assessments, and document findings in the patient's medical records within an outpatient setting. Attention to detail is crucial in clinical duties.
  • Assess and manage patient care to ensure the highest standards of treatment.
  • Document progress notes; compile patient evaluations and summaries, highlighting significant findings.
  • Formulate care plans aimed at reducing complications and effectively addressing issues as they arise. Implement preventative and alternative strategies for potential procedural complications.
  • Conduct pre-operative evaluations for all surgical candidates, collaborating with the supervising physician to guarantee that all necessary tests, clearances, and laboratory work are completed well in advance of surgery.

Qualifications:

Experience in Neurosurgery is preferred.

Candidates must possess an ACNP or AG-ACNP certification or be a certified Physician Assistant.

Additional Requirements:

ACLS and BLS certifications are mandatory.

Certification in NIHSS and Modified Rankin is also required.
