Fabrication Specialist - Coating
Overview:
As a key player in our manufacturing team, the Fabrication Specialist - Coating will contribute to the production of heat exchangers and pressure vessels crafted from various metals including carbon steel, stainless steel, and nickel alloys.
Role Responsibilities:
- Assist welding and machine operation teams by performing tasks such as rough grinding, chipping, and material handling.
- Operate machinery, including painting equipment, while maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
- Load and unload coil materials into machines, ensuring proper setup and operation of body rolling and edge bending machines.
- Conduct hydro testing and blasting of heat exchangers, as well as participate in their assembly.
- Utilize forklifts and cranes for loading and unloading materials and products.
- Perform non-destructive testing, including liquid penetrant tests, as required.
- Prepare materials for production according to established schedules and accurately document quality data.
- Engage in continuous improvement initiatives, contributing to the Alfa Laval Production System (ALPS) through practices such as 5S and Total Preventative Maintenance (TPM).
- Support team members in problem-solving efforts as needed.
- Commit to maintaining a safe working environment and uphold safety standards.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of a high school diploma; candidates interested in pursuing a GED are encouraged to apply.
- At least three years of experience in a manufacturing setting.
- Familiarity with industrial painting techniques and the operation of pneumatic and electric tools.
- Ability to pass certification for forklift and crane operation.
- Proficient in reading blueprints and work instructions, with effective communication skills in English.
- Demonstrated capability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
Physical and Environmental Considerations:
Physical demands include lifting, climbing, and standing, with the ability to handle materials weighing up to 50 lbs. The role may involve exposure to hazardous materials and various work environments.
