BestLogic Staffing is seeking a dedicated Metal Fabrication Specialist for a key client in the manufacturing sector. This is a Direct Placement opportunity with a focus on quality and precision in welding tasks.
To qualify for this position, candidates should possess a Welding certificate and have a minimum of 3 years of experience in GTAW & GMAW-P welding techniques.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare welding materials by cutting, grinding, and cleaning metal surfaces.
- Interpret and read weld blueprints and engineered drawings, adhering to work order specifications.
- Select appropriate filler rods based on base metal requirements.
- Grind or cut edges of workpieces to ensure a proper fit using angle grinders and hand tools.
- Identify faulty equipment operations or defective materials.
- Maintain a safe working environment in compliance with OSHA safety standards.
- Set up welding machines tailored to specific materials, thicknesses, and positions using advanced fixtures and positioners.
- Conduct dimensional inspections of welds and parts using tools such as calipers and gauges.
- Inspect all components for proper assembly and cosmetic quality, tagging non-conforming parts.
- Complete tasks according to manufacturing schedules and within standard timeframes.
- Follow all safety protocols and utilize Personal Protective Equipment.
- Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
- Engage in welding production tasks and assist in the development of new projects.
- Document detailed welding schedules and process sheets.
- Provide expertise in tooling and processes to enhance production efficiency.
- Must be capable of lifting, pushing, or pulling at least 50 lbs.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in GTAW & GMAW-P welding and blueprint reading.
- 5 years of solid general computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Excel, with strong math proficiency.
- Ability to design and construct complex fixtures as necessary.
- Must pass required welding certifications (AWS D17.1).
- Read, interpret, and execute work instructions effectively.
- Proficient in using standard bench tools and gauges for setup, inspection, and welding.
- Experience operating computer-controlled machines and making necessary program adjustments.
- Conduct pre-weld acceptance sample evaluations and maintain logs for each job performed.
- Support Welding Engineers in developing process schedules.
- Exhibit excellent written and verbal communication skills.
