Department: Sterile Processing
Schedule: Full-time, Evening Shift, rotating weekends
Key Responsibilities:
1. Coordinate and manage surgical instruments and supplies for operations.
2. Serve as the primary contact for Operating Room personnel regarding instrument and supply needs.
3. Develop a comprehensive understanding of core specialties while gaining experience in other areas.
4. Act as a resource within the department, overseeing the trial, purchase, and assembly of new or revised instrument sets.
5. Perform a variety of duties within the Central Processing Department, including:
a. Cleaning, reassembling, and wrapping instruments and equipment for sterilization.
b. Operating sterilization equipment and maintaining inventory levels.
c. Ensuring accurate processing of patient charges and credits.
6. Prioritize workflow to effectively respond to routine and emergency requests.
7. Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
8. Verify completeness of case carts and ensure appropriate loaner trays are included.
9. Ensure timely preparation of the first scheduled case of the day.
10. Communicate effectively with CPD staff, Operating Room suites, and management.
Essential Qualifications:
- Must possess a Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) certification or equivalent.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; completion of a sterile processing program preferred.
- Minimum of two years of relevant experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of surgical instrumentation and ability to assemble instrument sets accurately and efficiently.
- Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
Working Conditions:
- The role requires standing and walking for extended periods.
- Potential exposure to high-risk environments and materials.
