Position Summary: The Instrumentation and Electrical (I&E) Technician is responsible for the repair, installation, and maintenance of instrumentation and electrical systems within a chemical manufacturing facility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct support to troubleshoot and resolve instrumentation and electrical challenges as they arise.
- Conduct inspections, calibrations, repairs, installations, and modifications of process controls, control valves, safety devices, analyzers, PLCs, field instrumentation (including pressure, level, and flow), process monitoring tools, and both low and high voltage motors and breakers.
- Analyze equipment malfunctions, identify root causes, and propose enhancements to boost equipment efficiency, reliability, and operational capacity.
- Assist in the creation, execution, and periodic assessment of preventative and predictive maintenance strategies aimed at minimizing unexpected work stoppages and enhancing overall plant performance.
- Research and evaluate new techniques, best practices, and technologies for potential application within the facility.
- Plan and manage both scheduled and unscheduled shutdowns, providing necessary technical and hands-on assistance during these periods.
- Adhere to all environmental, health, and safety regulations, including process safety management (PSM) protocols.
- Commit to Responsible Care principles, demonstrating a strong dedication to safety, environmental responsibility, and ethical conduct in all job functions.
Qualifications:
- Strong electrical and mechanical skills.
- Proficient in the installation, inspection, testing, adjustment, and repair of electronic and electro-mechanical systems.
- Familiarity with MS Office Suite and Teams.
- Ability to interpret technical documentation, including electrical schematics and safety protocols, in accordance with federal and state OSHA regulations.
- Demonstrated safety practices when utilizing hand tools and power tools in maintenance activities.
- Knowledge of equipment properties, behaviors, and hazards, along with experience in machinery overhauls and refurbishments.
- Excellent organizational skills, capable of working independently or leading a team.
- Preferred: Associate's degree in instrumentation or electrical-related field.
- Minimum of five years of relevant maintenance experience in instrumentation and electrical within a chemical or manufacturing environment.
- Experience with electrical control systems and distribution networks.
- Prior experience in high voltage equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
