Key Responsibilities
The Clinical Nurse Specialist is accountable for delivering safe and effective patient care by utilizing the nursing process, which includes assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
The Clinical Nurse Specialist also plays a vital role in guiding patient and family education, as well as overseeing the activities of other nursing staff while ensuring adherence to care standards in critical care settings.
Accountability for the care provided to assigned patients is paramount; the Clinical Nurse Specialist must effectively communicate with physicians regarding any changes in the patient's clinical status, including monitoring vital signs, interpreting diagnostic results, and addressing any abnormal findings.
The ability to respond promptly and accurately to changes in patient conditions or treatment responses is essential. Maintaining patient confidentiality and privacy is a critical aspect of this role.Qualifications
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Valid and current state RN License.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification upon hire and ongoing maintenance.
- Completion of a Critical Care Course is preferred.
- Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification within 30 days of hire and ongoing maintenance.
- A minimum of one year of experience as a staff RN in an acute care hospital setting, with critical care experience preferred.
- Critical Care RN (CCRN) Certification is preferred.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.
