Position Overview

The Cardiac Electrophysiology Faculty will play a pivotal role within the Electrophysiology section, with opportunities to engage in an Electrophysiology Fellowship program. The selected candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive electrophysiology consult services and managing both inpatient and outpatient clinics.

Key Responsibilities:

Primary Duties:

  • This is a full-time academic role offering extensive clinical, research, and educational opportunities.
  • Exhibit excellence in academic and research endeavors in cardiac electrophysiology, particularly in the areas of ventricular tachycardia (VT) and atrial fibrillation (AF) ablation.
  • Guide the development of the Electrophysiology Fellowship Program, collaborating with faculty and staff on programmatic initiatives.
  • Engage in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows.
  • Lead the advancement of complex ablation procedures at RWJBarnabas Health, specifically focusing on VT and AF ablation, while providing support to fellow faculty and healthcare professionals involved in the electrophysiology program.
  • Establish a structured VT ablation program aimed at fostering its growth.
  • Drive innovation initiatives in partnership with technology transfer, research groups, and the Research Institute to position RWJBarnabas Health as a national leader in cardiology technology innovation.
  • Function as a clinical cardiologist specializing in electrophysiology and collaborate with the RWJBarnabas Health system to enhance patient referral practices, participating in both inpatient and outpatient clinic rotations.
  • Design and implement clinical trials while actively seeking extramural funding opportunities.
  • Allocate dedicated time to fulfill the administrative responsibilities associated with this position.
  • Contribute to the development and ongoing success of the Division's mission.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Section Chief of Electrophysiology, Chief of Cardiology, and Chair of Medicine.

Qualifications:

  • Must possess an MD and be eligible for appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor.
  • Demonstrated expertise in complex ablation techniques, including atrial fibrillation and ventricular tachycardia, particularly in the context of structural heart disease, as well as experience with bi-ventricular pacemaker and ICD implantation.
  • Preferred prior experience in an academic healthcare setting.

Licensure and Certification:

  • Board certification in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Diseases, and Electrophysiology is required.
  • Eligibility for licensure in New Jersey is necessary.
