Collaborating with our nonprofit partner, the Stone Barns Center for Food & Agriculture, we are dedicated to pioneering a research and educational hub focused on a sustainable future for food. Our dining space serves as a platform for innovation and experimentation.



The Bartender plays a crucial role in our bar program, possessing extensive knowledge of cocktails, wines, beers, spirits, and non-alcoholic beverages. This position requires close collaboration with both front-of-house and back-of-house teams to foster a warm and inviting atmosphere for all patrons.



At Blue Hill, we believe that culinary professionals should continuously enhance their understanding of food systems, culinary arts, and hospitality. Therefore, you will have the opportunity to engage in weekly educational sessions featuring guest speakers, classes, and training, along with eligibility for a stipend to pursue external educational and dining experiences.

  • Versatile: You are capable of performing various job-related tasks, including manual dexterity and the ability to follow both oral and written instructions. This role requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and to stand for extended periods.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting in the creation, standardization, and execution of cocktail recipes.
  • Updating selections of wines, beers, and spirits.
  • Fostering a welcoming atmosphere for all guests at the bar, ensuring excellence and cleanliness.
  • Exhibiting comprehensive knowledge of specialty and classic cocktails (ingredients, specifications, preparation), wines, beers, and beverage options, along with the ability to recommend pairings.
  • Executing service steps with grace and efficiency while maintaining a sense of urgency.
  • Ensuring cleanliness and organization of the bar area, including seating arrangements.
  • Communicating effectively with team members and management.
  • Encouraging a supportive, energetic, and authentic environment for both guests and colleagues.
  • Acquainting new team members with bar policies and procedures.
  • Maintaining constructive communication with team members.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Hourly wage: $25 - $28
  • Access to medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401K, and paid time off, as well as staff dining and educational reimbursement programs.
  • Full-time in-person position at Blue Hill at Stone Barns. Shifts may include evenings and weekends.
