Position Overview

Salary: Competitive rates starting at $17+/hr based on experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Transport passengers with mobility challenges to and from scheduled medical appointments safely and efficiently.
  • Operate a specialized vehicle designed for wheelchair accessibility in various traffic and weather conditions.
  • Utilize navigation tools such as Google Maps and our dedicated dispatch application to determine optimal routes.
  • Assist passengers in boarding and alighting from the vehicle, ensuring their comfort and safety.
  • Review daily schedules to confirm timely arrivals and departures for all appointments.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch regarding any changes in schedule or incidents involving passengers or drivers.

  • Experience driving accessible vehicles in diverse environments and conditions.
  • Proficient in using GPS applications and smartphone technology.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage positively with a wide range of individuals.
  • A genuine commitment to providing assistance in a compassionate and respectful manner.

General Overview:

This role involves operating a wheelchair-accessible vehicle throughout your shift, providing transportation for clients to various non-emergency medical services, including but not limited to therapy sessions, dialysis, and routine health check-ups. Our clientele includes individuals of all ages, including children, seniors, and those with physical or cognitive disabilities. It is essential to foster a welcoming and supportive atmosphere for all passengers. Training will be provided in-house, covering essential topics such as Defensive Driving, Passenger Assistance, and First Aid. A smartphone with data capabilities is required for managing schedules and navigation throughout the day. Familiarity with mobile applications and internet browsing will enhance your efficiency in this role.

Requirements:

  • Smartphone with a data plan capable of running dispatch and navigation applications.
  • Successful completion of a state/federal background check, including fingerprinting.
  • Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Pass a pre-employment drug test and DOT physical examination.
  • Commitment to consistent availability for scheduled shifts.
  • Completion of DOT STS training within 45 days of employment (provided at no cost).
  • Ability to assist passengers with various mobility aids safely.
  • Fluent communication skills in English, encompassing reading, writing, speaking, and listening.
