Yard Jockey

About the Role

As a Yard Jockey at US Foods, Inc., you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our logistics and transportation processes. Your primary responsibility will be to coordinate and manage the movement of trailers and equipment within our yard, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.

Key Responsibilities

• Communicate with Dispatchers and Routers to coordinate truck and trailer assignments
• Ensure all assigned equipment is properly coupled and ready for use
• Move trailers between buildings as directed by Routers or Warehouse Supervisors
• Load, unload, or merge loads between environments
• Stage shuttle trailers nightly for shuttle drivers
• Set up trailers for backhaul with tractor and empty pallets
• Place backhauls in the correct door for unloading by the warehouse
• Verify that all equipment is paired and ready for the next day's deliveries
• Collaborate with mechanics to ensure all equipment is in good working condition
• Attend all required company meetings
• Perform other duties as assigned by management

Requirements

• Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull 20 to 80+ pounds of product repetitively during each shift
• Comfortable driving and working in inclement weather conditions
