Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to join our team at Wanzek Construction. As an Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for coordinating engineering activities on multi-discipline projects, ensuring timely completion of design documents, and providing support to the Operations team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the preparation of project schedules and evaluate subcontractor bids
  • Collaborate with the Engineering team to monitor engineering deliverable schedules and ensure project schedules stay on track
  • Support one or more projects and proposals at a time under senior engineering leadership
  • Collect and organize questions from the team and subcontractors to be presented to clients via Requests for Information (RFIs)
  • Participate in subcontractor scope clarification and lead design meetings with stakeholders
  • Provide Value Engineering evaluation of conceptual design and review engineering deliverables for compliance with company and client requirements
  • Prepare Engineering Work Orders for execution with Engineering Consultants and develop and monitor open issues during the design phase
  • Track and monitor design progress of engineered drawing deliverables and technical submittals
  • Arrange for Phase I Environmental / Geotechnical Evaluations / Topographical Surveys as required
  • Assure that Reviews and Submittals are properly conducted in a timely fashion and coordinate site plan approval efforts and reviews by internal stakeholders
  • Collaborate with the Engineering team to provide contract clarification and assist with change order negotiations with subcontractors and Engineering Consultants
  • Accumulate and document 'lessons learned' for projects and travel to project sites as required to foster relationships and solve engineering-related issues
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related major preferred, or equivalent and direct renewable energy construction experience
  • Professional Engineer certification, or path to obtain same, preferred
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant work experience preferred
