Heavy Duty Equipment Technician

We are seeking a skilled Heavy Duty Equipment Technician to join our team at Performance Foodservice. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our diesel equipment fleet.

This is a critical role that requires a high level of technical expertise, attention to detail, and strong problem-solving skills. You will perform routine maintenance tasks, diagnose and repair complex issues, and provide training and guidance to other technicians as needed.

• Perform preventative maintenance on medium to heavy-duty trucks, trailers, reefer units, and convertor dollies under minimal supervision.
• Identify root causes of basic failures/conditions and perform repairs as required.
• Ensure equipment has required licensing and registration prior to being deemed as 'roadworthy'.
• Complete thorough documentation for work orders of repairs and preventative maintenance through the online Enterprise Asset Management system.
• Install, replace, and repair onboard computers.
• Inspect brake systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings, and other important parts to ensure they are in proper operating condition.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• A High School Diploma/GED or equivalent experience.
• 3-5 years of proven medium to heavy-duty vehicle repair experience including PMs, tire & wheel, air & air disc brakes, diagnosis, computerized diagnostics, electrical troubleshooting, electronic component repair, and experience in refrigeration.

We offer a competitive salary of $30.00 per hour depending on experience, Sunday - Thursday 3:00pm -11:30pm schedule, and a sign-on bonus of $10,000 (terms apply).
