Job Summary

The Senior R&D Chemist is a key member of the Mitsubishi Chemical Group's research and development team, responsible for driving new product development and providing technical support to current product lines.

This role will function as a technical resource to all production locations, working with Purchasing, Production, Sales, and Marketing to supply technical knowledge and guidance regarding raw materials, polymers, and related problems.

The incumbent will supervise and mentor less-senior members of the technical team, sharing knowledge and overseeing critical projects and programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive targeted new product development efforts for thermoplastic, polyvinyl, and 3DP-based compounds for major global strategic customers.
  • Responsible for technical integrity of the new product development cycle, including raw material selection and qualification, formulation development, and customer acceptance.
  • Provide technical support to MCA Purchasing, Production, Process & Project Engineering, Regulatory & Compliance, Quality Control, and key customers.
  • Lead and mentor less-senior members of the Technical Team, sharing know-how and overseeing critical projects and programs.

Requirements:

  • Four-year technical degree from a four-year College or University.
  • Chemistry or Chemical Engineering background.
  • 5+ years' experience in compounding and product development.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively communicate at all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent computer skills - Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Problem-solving skills demonstrated through utilization of tools such as 8D/5-Why/Six Sigma approach.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with TEP.
  • Automotive experience.
