Job Summary

This role involves various tasks related to the layout and installation of fiber, commercial, and industrial electrical systems under the supervision of experienced professionals. As an Electrical Installation Specialist, you will play a crucial part in ensuring compliance with safety policies, reading and interpreting construction drawings, and performing layout tasks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to and ensure compliance with Tri-M's safety policies and procedures.
  • Construction Drawings: Read and interpret fiber, electrical, mechanical, architectural, and other types of construction drawings.
  • Layout Tasks: Perform assigned layout tasks efficiently and accurately.
  • Team Leadership: Assist in leading the fiber project team as needed.
  • Outdoor Lighting: Install various outdoor lighting systems.
  • Underground Duct Bank Systems: Install underground duct bank systems with supervision.
  • Transformer Installation: Install outdoor transformers and make standard connections with supervision.
  • MV Cable Termination: Install medium voltage cable and terminate it with supervision.
  • Equipment Operation: Learn to operate line trucks and bucket trucks.
  • Power Pulling Equipment: Set up and operate power pulling equipment.
  • Cable Termination: Terminate cable from 5kv and above with cold shrink termination kits with supervision.
  • Dry Transformer Installation: Assist in the installation of dry transformers and capacitors.
  • Switchgear Setup: Set various types of indoor and outdoor switchgear with supervision.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Safeguard and maintain Tri-M equipment, tools, and vehicles.
  • Compliance and Training: Ensure compliance with National Electrical Code and High Voltage Electrical Safety, conduct on-the-job training of apprentices, and recommend improved methods of operation.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To excel in this role, you should possess:

  • A high school diploma.
  • Completion of a state-approved apprenticeship program or equivalent.
  • A minimum of four years of experience in the fiber and electrical trade.
  • The ability to read and understand basic one-line diagrams (fiber, power, special systems riser, etc.).
  • A good working knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC) and the National Electric Safety Code (NESC), and the high voltage electrical safety book.
  • Good character and neat appearance.
  • Good mechanical aptitude and understanding of outdoor electrical systems.
  • The ability to climb heights of 70 feet or more on poles or scaffolds.
  • A valid commercial driver's license-Class A (CDL) or be in the process of obtaining one, along with a history of safe driving.
  • Reliable personal transportation to and from work locations/office.
  • The willingness to purchase Company-required personal tools and maintain them in good condition.
  • The ability and willingness to travel nationally to job sites.
  • Confident, decisive, safety-oriented, and self-motivated individuals.
  • Proficiency in using laptops and tablets.
  • A good knowledge of bus duct (usage and installation).
  • A working knowledge of outdoor lighting installations (proper excavating and backfill, forming, underground conduit, correct connections and conductors).
  • An understanding of the use and installation of portable and fixed generators.

Estimated Salary Range: $60,000 - $80,000 per annum, based on location and experience.
