At Catholic Charities Diocese of Paterson, we are seeking a skilled Housing Stabilization Specialist to join our team in Passaic County. This dynamic role will play a crucial part in providing comprehensive defense against eviction to at-risk low-income renter households through best practices in eviction prevention, resource navigation, and diversion.

About the Role:

  • You will be responsible for outreach to tenants with landlord-tenant notices based on new eviction filings, as well as attending landlord-tenant court proceedings to assist eligible households with rental assistance applications, eviction prevention, and access to legal services.
  • Your key responsibility will also include meeting with clients to determine their needs, develop a budget, and provide housing stabilization services.
  • In addition, you will develop and maintain housing stabilization plans, case files, and monthly statistical reports.
  • You will work closely with clients to provide creative solutions to prevent eviction and process direct client flex funds to pay necessary arrears.
  • Regular communications with the office of Eviction Prevention will be essential.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • A college degree is preferred, and one year of related work experience is required.
  • You must have the ability to work accurately and meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of community resources, rental assistance, and homeless prevention programs is essential.
  • Basic computer and software skills, as well as experience, are required.
  • We prefer candidates who are Bilingual Spanish.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • The estimated salary for this role is $65,000 per annum.
  • Valid driver's license is required.
  • Local travel is required, as needed.
