Cardiac Cath Lab/Interventional Technologist II

We are seeking a highly skilled Cardiac Cath Lab/Interventional Technologist II to join our team at MedStar Health. This role is responsible for performing angiographic, therapeutic, and interventional procedures, as well as providing patient management prior to, during, and after the procedure.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Administer contrast media into the coronary arteries as directed by a Cardiologist during a cardiac catheterization procedure.
  • Recognize the effect of pathology and vital signs to determine the amount of pressure of each hand injection.
  • Apply knowledge of the normal physiologic and electrocardiographic sequences of cardiac contraction and recognize both minor and dangerous arrhythmia.
  • Provide appropriate patient care as required.
  • Function as a first assistant to the physician by scrubbing independently and aiding in the manipulation and placement of guide wires and catheters.
  • Administer contrast media in accordance with physician instruction.
  • Schedule and maintain orderly patient flow.
  • Maintain adequate basic interventional and cardiac supplies, all appropriate patient records and department check sheets.
  • Order supplies from outside vendors in hospital purchasing system.
  • Assist supervisor with all aspects of inventory control.
  • Correctly enter patient and supply information into the RIS and/or hospital computer system.
  • Perform hemodynamic physiologic patient monitoring, recording calculations of cardiovascular procedures, angiographic, therapeutic, and interventional imaging procedures.
  • Perform electrophysiology and ablation procedures.
  • Provide quality patient care and monitoring during all phases of the procedure in accordance with physician instructions and established policy.
  • Have knowledge of all equipment, inventory, and location of supplies.
  • Operate emergency equipment safely.
  • Respond to on-call emergencies in accordance with department policy.
Qualifications:
  • Satisfactory completion of an AMA-approved school of Radiologic Technology of at least 2 years duration.
  • 2 years' experience in diagnostic radiology.
  • Experience in interventional radiology/cardiac catheterization or equivalent.
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) certification or registration.
  • Radiology Technologist license in the State of Maryland.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification or eligibility.

This position has a hiring range of $41.98 - $71.68.
