Job Title: Full-Time Flight Instructor

The Liberty University School of Aeronautics is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Flight Instructor to join our team. As a Full-Time Flight Instructor, you will be responsible for providing flight, simulator, and ground instruction to students in accordance with Liberty University and FAA regulations and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Train and mentor students in accordance with the Liberty University School of Aeronautics Flight Operations Manual (FOM).
  • Perform flight instructor duties as authorized by the Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR's) in accordance with the Liberty University School of Aeronautics approved Training Course Outline (TCO).
  • Ensure students are scheduled for the correct lesson in the correct aircraft and that each procedure is done according to the FOM.
  • Ensure all students understand and practice all aspects of the Liberty University Safety Program as outlined in the FOM.
  • Ensure satisfactory progress through the training course of each student.
  • Accurately maintain all appropriate records, including student training in ETA, student logbook records, and a record of sign-offs.
  • Initiate stage checks and requests for assigned students.
  • Responsible for timely course completion of all flight students assigned, including completion of required paperwork and assignment of final course grade.
  • Monitor the maintenance condition of the training aircraft and inform dispatch of any aircraft maintenance discrepancy issues immediately.
  • Recommend curriculum and course improvements when appropriate and develop new curriculum or course improvements as assigned.
  • File safety reports as necessary on any observed safety violations or potential situations that may affect the safety of operations.
  • Keep your direct supervisor aware of your whereabouts during working hours and work out schedule adjustments as needed.
  • Keep current with continuing education by attending weekly operations meetings, special training and standardization meetings when scheduled, other in-service training and instructor development meetings as assigned.
  • Assist the Executive Director of Flight Operations with special projects.
Qualifications, Credentials, and Competencies:
  • FAA CFI, CFII certifications required.
  • 4-year college degree required.
  • MEI, ATP certifications preferred.
