School Nurse Position

At Aveanna Healthcare LLC, we are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated School Licensed Nurse to join our team. As a School Licensed Nurse, you will be responsible for providing direct school nursing services to promote prevention, medical management, and academics.
Key Responsibilities:- Maintain standards of nursing while providing care under the supervision of a registered nurse.
- Perform treatments and/or procedures with skill and competence.
- Administer medication as per MD order and/or parental consent.
- Attend Health Plan meetings and school conferences when applicable; assisting with the plan of care under the direction of a physician, registered nurse, school designee, and/or parent.
- Attend appropriate continuing education programs as per licensure requirements and participate in Aveanna in-servicing and training as offered.
- Exhibit behavior supporting and promoting student's rights and overall wellbeing.
- Follow Aveanna and school board policies and procedures that affect the health, safety, and wellbeing of students in the school health setting.
- Report any changes in the student's mental, physical, or environmental condition (including any incidents) to the physician, nursing supervisor, school designee, and parent as applicable.
- Recognize and report signs of substance abuse, physical abuse, or neglect.
- Provide a clean and safe environment within the school, including the safe use of equipment. Maintain a neat and orderly workspace.
- Identify appropriate methods for storage of equipment, supplies, and medications.
- Provide individual teaching and training with student and/or others in an effort to encourage and promote student independence when applicable.
- Collaborate, coordinate, and supervise services with others in order to promote academics and individualized student needs.
- Accurately document services provided in accordance with agency policies and procedures on the day the services are rendered.
- Submit nursing documentation, logs, reports, and timesheets according to company guidelines.
- Graduate of an accredited Diploma, Associate, or Baccalaureate School of Nursing.
- Current, unrestricted state license as a Licensed Nurse in the state of practice.
- Current CPR certification.
- Current Basic Life Support certification.
- Demonstrated proficiency in clinical assessments, documentation, and compliance with nursing care and policies and procedures.
- Continuing Education as required by state.
- Pediatrics.
- Attention to detail.
- Time Management.
- Leadership skills.
- Effective problem-solving and conflict resolution.
- Good organization and communication skills.
- Must be able to speak, write, read, and understand English.
- Must be able to travel.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
- Must be able to sufficiently reposition patients and move equipment without assistance.
- Prolonged walking, standing, bending, kneeling, reaching, twisting.
- Must be able to sit and climb stairs.
- Must have visual and hearing acuity.
- Must have a strong sense of smell and touch.
- Must be able to appropriately respond physically and mentally to emergency situations in the home or during transport.
- Must be able to function in a wide variety of environments which may involve exposure to allergens and other various conditions.
- Possible exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and infectious diseases.
