Job Summary

The Yard Driver is a key member of the Warehouse Operations Team, responsible for assisting with inspecting containers, managing equipment, and ensuring the safe and smooth maneuvering of all trailers.

This role requires a high level of attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Organize tractor trailers within the space to ensure trucks and trailers are ready for unloading, loading, and transport.
  • Perform weekly and daily inspections of equipment assigned for the week, following a provided checklist.
  • Perform basic maintenance of equipment.
  • Responsible for the order and cleanliness of equipment.
  • Follow all safety procedures for the movement and operation of equipment.
  • Move containers to and from warehouse doors/docks and parking spots at the yard or in warehouses, opening and closing container doors as needed.
  • Support the reach stacker operator on chassis swap for over-the-road dispatches.
  • Make necessary movements of equipment within the yard/warehouses as instructed by supervisors or managers to organize the facility.
  • Plug and unplug containers from their parking spot when necessary.
  • Keep track of movements performed with equipment.
  • Keep track of fuel requirements of equipment.
  • Comply with additional tasks assigned by the Operations Superintendent and/or Manager.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1+ years of recent experience in a similar role within manufacturing, production, or distribution environments.
  • Clean driving record required.
  • Class A CDL required.
  • Excellent attendance required; must be able to work on a regular and predictable basis or as schedule due to changes in business needs and/or during peak season.
  • Ability to work in a warehouse environment with variable noise levels, lighting conditions, and temperature variation.
