Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Hydrologic Modeler to join our team at the St. Johns River Water Management District. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing hydrologic modeling and data analysis to support water resources management, flood protection, water quality improvements, environmental restoration, and minimum flows and levels assessment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform water quantity and water quality studies of surface water basins using major hydrologic and hydraulic models such as BASINS/HSPF, StormWise, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, SWMM, and District-developed models.
  • Perform computer model calibration and verification of watershed simulations.
  • Maintain and update water quantity/quality simulation models.
  • Determine data needs for watershed studies and computer applications such as GIS data, land use and soil data, meteorological data, hydraulic, and water quality data.
  • Perform statistical analyses and quality control on collected data and simulated results.
  • Perform hydraulic simulation of streams and rivers, such as stage and discharge relationships for applications in other computer models.
  • Write technical reports and present study results to internal and external stakeholders.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need a bachelor's degree in geology, hydrology, environmental science, civil engineering, hydraulic engineering, agricultural engineering, or a related field, and four years of professional experience directly related to the field. A master's degree can substitute for one year of experience, and a doctorate can substitute for two years of experience.

Working Environment

This is a mostly office-based role, with periodic field visits required. You will need to be able to endure outdoor environments in uncomfortable temperatures, inclement weather, and remote locations. Travel is minimal, but may be required to attend off-site meetings.

Benefits

We offer a competitive salary range of $66,164.80 - $86,008.00 for Engineer Scientist III and $70,803.20 - $92,040.00 for Engineer Scientist IV, depending on qualifications and experience.
