Job Description

At Detroit Engineered Products, we are seeking a highly skilled Quality Engineer to join our team. As a Quality Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the company's products and processes meet established quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Quality Performance Analysis: Perform root cause analysis of quality issues to analyze quality performance utilizing statistical, analytical, and advanced problem-solving tools.
  • Corrective Actions: Recommend and implement cost-effective permanent corrective actions to address quality issues.
  • Quality Data Analysis: Analyze quality data from internal and external indicators to ensure correlation and identify areas for improvement.
  • Collaboration: Coordinate with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Suppliers to resolve issues that are not plant controllable.
  • Engineering Changes: Manage engineering changes, working with cross-functional teams to ensure timely execution.
  • Product Evaluation: Conduct product evaluation requests to ensure robustness of product or process changes before full implementation.
  • Rework Procedures: Recommend and validate rework procedures to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Inspection Procedures: Develop inspection procedures and best practices to ensure quality control.
Requirements:
  • Education: Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or applicable Technical Engineering Degree from an accredited university.
  • Experience: 2+ years of practical experience in Automotive Engineering, Engineering Quality, or Manufacturing Quality.
  • Skills: Prior application and use of problem-solving tools and statistics, strong proficiency in MS Office applications & G-Suite tools, effective presentation/public speaking skills, and ability to communicate details from executive level to plant staff level.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Advanced Degree: Advanced degree in a relevant field.
  • BIW Commodity Experience: Experience with BIW commodity.
  • LEAN Manufacturing Principles: Background in LEAN manufacturing principles or World Class Manufacturing (WCM) and problem-solving techniques.
Manufacturing General Physical Requirements:
  • Work Environment: Work different shifts and/or work weekends, including overtime, in hot and/or cold environments, around heavy equipment or manufacturing machinery, and wear safety equipment such as safety glasses, sleeves, earplugs, and steel-toed shoes.
  • Physical Demands: Stand or walk for long periods of time each day, frequently bend, stoop, reach, and lift up to 40 pounds, work in tight or closed-in spaces, regularly climb ladder/man lift/stairs/crawl under vehicles if necessary, and strong verbal communication skills.
