Job Description

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide routine patient care within an assigned unit under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
  • Assist with patients' plans of care by providing and/or assisting with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, grooming, mobility, and comfort.
  • Effectively coordinate daily patient care activities on the nursing unit.
  • Assist nursing staff to better facilitate patient admissions, discharges, and transfers.
  • Perform a variety of duties both within and in support of assigned unit as delegated by nursing staff.
  • Respond to patients' call lights/requests and report to appropriate personnel when necessary.
  • Assist patients in meeting nutritional needs, including assisting with feeding, providing fluids, and supplements.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Inventory Control: Order, stock, and replenish unit supplies and necessary equipment in a cost-efficient manner.
  • Participate in identifying unit financial responsibility during budget preparation.
  • Assist with keeping unit within its budget restraints.
  • Communication: Facilitate unit communication, including telephones, intercom systems, call light systems, computers, and relay information as appropriate.
  • Communicate patient information, concerns, or issues to appropriate interdisciplinary team members.
  • Facilitate and direct communication among visitors, employees, and physicians within assigned unit.
  • Customer Service: Welcome visitors to the unit by greeting them, answering questions, giving directions, and referring inquiries as appropriate to nursing staff.
  • Answer telephone and direct calls and inquiries to the appropriate department or staff member.
  • Polite and friendly in all interactions, whether by phone or in person.
  • Ensure a safe and clean environment for patients and healthcare team.
Requirements
  • Certified Nurse Assistant license.
