Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide guidance and support to students in academic and personal development
  • Facilitate lessons on essential life skills tailored to the needs of various classes

  • Collaborate with the Learning Support Team
  • Track and assess student progress to evaluate program effectiveness
  • Engage in the Learning Support Team's activities
  • Assist families in navigating school policies and procedures

  • Work closely with faculty and staff to develop and implement student support strategies
  • Participate in student events and activities
  • Supervise students in various settings

Administrative Duties:

  • Respond to messages promptly, within a 24-hour timeframe
  • Maintain regular communication with parents regarding student progress and concerns
  • Submit relevant data to the Data Committee in a timely manner
  • Keep a tidy and organized workspace
  • Exhibit professionalism in interactions with staff, students, and parents
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive information

Qualifications:

Religious Requirements:

  • Active participation in the Roman Catholic faith (preferred)
  • Understanding of and respect for Catholic educational philosophy

Professional Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in counseling, psychology, education, or a related field
  • Relevant internship or clinical experience
  • State licensure and certification as a counselor
  • Clear background check as per institutional requirements
  • Understanding of child development and effective communication skills
  • Positive and proactive attitude
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with administration, colleagues, and families
  • Professional demeanor at all times

Physical Requirements:

The school counselor must be able to:

  • Stand for extended periods while engaging with students
  • Occasionally sit or walk through various environments
  • Navigate tight spaces and uneven surfaces
  • Interact with students at different levels, including kneeling or bending
  • Lift and move objects as necessary to facilitate classroom activities
