Practical Nurse Specialist

The Practical Nurse Specialist plays a vital role in delivering quality patient care, assessing medical conditions, and preparing individuals for examinations and treatments under the supervision of a healthcare provider. The ideal candidate is proactive, adaptable, and possesses a strong commitment to patient welfare.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare patients for examinations, record vital signs and medical history, and provide necessary treatments.
- Assist in identifying medical issues, initiate and maintain IV lines, and administer fluids and medications as directed by provider orders.
- Work collaboratively with healthcare providers and other medical personnel during patient evaluations and treatments, including administering injections, removing sutures, and applying dressings.
- Authorize medication refills as directed by providers and relay prescription details to pharmacies.
- Prepare and administer injections, change dressings, and manage wound care as per provider instructions.
- Collect blood, tissue, and other lab specimens through standard in-house testing protocols, analyze and prepare samples for testing, log results, and perform follow-up calls as necessary.
- Prepare examination and treatment rooms; select, set up, sterilize, and maintain medical supplies and equipment for procedures.
- Document patient care and procedures accurately using appropriate forms and electronic medical records.
- Schedule patients for diagnostic tests and follow-up consultations.
- Educate patients and their families regarding treatment plans and medication instructions.
- Collaborate with team members, follow directives, and take initiative to ensure cohesive patient care.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Certification/Licensure: Valid LPN license and current BLS certification are mandatory.
- Experience: A minimum of one to three years of relevant experience is preferred.
