Principal OpenStack Engineer
As a Principal OpenStack Engineer within the Hardware Engineering division at GEICO, you will take charge of the design, execution, and ongoing oversight of robust private cloud infrastructures. Your responsibilities will encompass the creation of automation frameworks, performance evaluations, teamwork with various departments, contribution of high-quality software, and fostering a culture of continuous enhancement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the design and management of private cloud systems
- Establish automation protocols for server operations
- Perform performance assessments and enhancements
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to refine infrastructure deployment
- Deliver high-quality software and adhere to OpenSource community standards
- Promote continuous improvement by keeping abreast of emerging technologies
- Guide junior team members and offer insights related to cloud infrastructure
Required Qualifications:
- Expertise in OpenStack components and services
- Proficient in scripting and automation with Python and Go
- Familiarity with cloud storage solutions like SAN and Software Defined Storage
- Demonstrated ability to tackle technical challenges
- Strong communication skills and capacity to cultivate effective relationships
Experience:
- 6+ years in a comparable position focusing on OpenStack cloud environments
- 5+ years of practical experience in systems/server management
- 4+ years of experience in a collaborative development setting
- 4+ years of scripting/coding experience in Python, C++, Bash, or Go
- 4+ years of experience in developing and maintaining high-availability systems
Preferred Experience:
- 10+ years of professional software development experience
- 8+ years of experience in systems architecture and design
- 6+ years of experience with open-source frameworks
- 3+ years of experience in technical leadership roles
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
Compensation:
$110, $261,500.00The annual salary range is a general guideline based on experience, responsibilities, and market considerations.
