About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Certified Medical Assistant to join our team at Texas Oncology in Odessa, Tx. As a key member of our clinical staff, you will play a vital role in supporting patient care duties in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting physicians and clinicians with exams and procedures, promoting efficient patient flow, and performing miscellaneous clerical tasks. This includes escorting patients to and from exam rooms, recording patient data, obtaining necessary patient records, and preparing exam/treatment rooms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Escort patients to and from exam rooms, physician offices, and treatment rooms as appropriate.
  • Record patient data prior to each physician visit, including vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes.
  • Obtain all necessary patient records as required by physician prior to treatment or procedures.
  • Prepare and stock exam/treatment rooms and order supplies as needed.
  • Assist physicians with exams and procedures as requested.
  • Administer subcutaneous and intramuscular injections, as delegated by RN or physician.
  • Maintain all exam/treatment room disinfection protocols.
  • Answer patient telephone calls for referral to physician or nurse/pharmacist.
  • Phone in prescriptions and make other patient calls as directed by physicians and RN.
  • Inform physician of patient reschedules and no shows.
  • Perform other administrative duties, i.e. typing, filing, faxing, chart preparation, reception, etc, as requested by supervisor or physician.
  • May enter orders under a provider's direction and supervision.

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Certificate of graduation from an accredited program for Medical Assistants preferred.
  • Level 1: 0-3 years experience as a medical assistant or nursing assistant.
  • Level 2: Minimum three years experience as a medical assistant or nursing assistant, phlebotomy experience preferred.
  • Level Sr: Minimum five years experience as a medical assistant or nursing assistant in a hospital or clinic setting.

Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary range of $45,000 - $65,000 per year, based on experience. In addition, we provide a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) matching, and paid time off.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

This role requires full range of body motion, including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 40 lbs. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
