About the Role

As a Medical Professional with Wexford Health, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality healthcare services to justice-involved patients. We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join our team at Danville Correctional Center in Illinois.

Job Summary

Under the clinical supervision of the Director of Nursing, the successful candidate will be responsible for delivering patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. This includes assessing physical, psychological, and psychosocial dimensions of patients, applying knowledge of illnesses, injuries, and diseases, and providing leadership to RNs, LPNs, MAs, CNAs, and other nursing paraprofessionals.

Responsibilities
  • Assess physical, psychological, and psychosocial dimensions of patients within the healthcare unit and, as necessary, in the housing units.
  • Apply knowledge of illnesses, injuries, and diseases using available resources in obtaining a health history, and in the assessment process.
  • Provide leadership to RNs, LPNs, MAs, CNAs, and other nursing paraprofessionals in patient care as related to medical aspects of patient care.
  • Review and monitor all offenders receiving medications, as assigned, and maintain charts and records.
  • Utilize therapeutic communication skills and effective interviewing techniques to elicit pertinent historical information and make appropriate referrals as required.
  • Implement professional nursing services in a thorough and competent manner in accordance with standards, rules, protocols, policies, and procedures.
  • Makes referrals to the appropriate healthcare provider in a timely manner based on diagnostic tests, labs, and nursing diagnosis.
Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have a Current, Valid, Unrestricted Illinois State Registered Nursing License and completion of a Hands-On CPR course prior to start date. A Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing is also required. Preferred experience includes a minimum of one year of clinical experience, with correctional nursing experience being a plus.

Compensation

The estimated salary for this role is $43-$45 per hour for RNs, plus up to $4 per hour in shift differentials, and $33-$34 per hour for LPNs, plus up to $4 per hour in shift differentials.
