Custodial Assistant

Job Summary:

Gersh Autism is seeking a Custodial Assistant - West Hempstead to maintain the cleanliness and overall appearance of our school facilities. This is a part-time position located in West Hempstead, NY.

Key Responsibilities:

• Cleaning and sanitizing restrooms, sweeping, mopping, and scrubbing floors
• Dusting and wiping down surfaces, emptying trash and recycle bins
• Cleaning windows and mirrors, assembling and moving furniture and equipment
• Assisting with minor repairs, responding to facilities-related emergencies, conducting periodic inventories of supplies and equipment
• Assisting with deliveries and general portage duties when required
• Daily opening and closing of facility

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum 3 years of experience in cleaning or maintenance
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Must be a self-starter who will be proactive in maintaining and cleaning the space
• Mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of hand & power tools a plus
• Excellent communication skills

Working Conditions:

• Must be able to lift and carry heavy objects up to 75#
• Competent at basic building maintenance
• Use of small industrial/electrical/mechanical equipment
• Knowledge of health and safety procedures and precautions
• Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions

Compensation: $18 per hour (30 hours per week)
