Job Overview

We are currently seeking a Chemical Process Engineer & Maintenance Leader to oversee and optimize chemical processes, ensuring the reliability and efficiency of plant operations. This dual-role position combines process engineering expertise with maintenance leadership skills, focusing on improving process safety, product quality, and production efficiency. As a key member of our team, you will lead initiatives to implement Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies within the process operations.

Key Responsibilities

As a Chemical Process Engineer & Maintenance Leader, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Analyzing and improving chemical manufacturing processes to enhance efficiency, yield, safety, and environmental performance.
  • Designing and modifying process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) to improve performance and ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Identifying and resolving process inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and quality issues using data analysis and root cause methodologies.
  • Ensuring all process operations comply with environmental, health, and safety regulations (OSHA, EPA, etc.) and supporting process hazard analyses (PHAs).
  • Monitoring process parameters and performance metrics to identify trends and implement corrective actions.
  • Assisting in leading initiatives to implement Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies within the process operations.
Maintenance Leadership Responsibilities

In addition to process engineering responsibilities, you will also lead the maintenance team, including technicians and contractors, ensuring the completion of scheduled preventive maintenance and unscheduled repairs. Your duties will include:

  • Developing and managing the plant's preventive maintenance program, minimizing downtime and maximizing equipment availability.
  • Developing and controlling the maintenance budget, optimizing resource allocation and cost-effectiveness.
  • Overseeing spare parts inventory and ensuring the availability of critical equipment to minimize production interruptions.
  • Providing training and mentorship to maintenance personnel, fostering a culture of safety, teamwork, and professional growth.
  • Ensuring that all maintenance activities comply with relevant safety standards and regulations, including electrical, mechanical, and chemical safety protocols.
Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience in chemical processing, manufacturing, or related industries.
  • Strong knowledge of chemical processes, process control, and safety systems.
  • Proficient in the use of maintenance management software (CMMS).
  • Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management skills with experience managing multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong analytical skills and a proven ability to troubleshoot complex technical and operational problems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of environmental, health, and safety (EHS) regulations, including Process Safety Management (PSM).
Salary

The estimated annual salary for this role is $120,000 - $150,000, depending on qualifications and experience.
